Fashion Intern
During my time as a Fashion Intern at Kirsty Doyle, I gained invaluable experience and insight into the fashion industry. The role allowed me to explore various aspects of the business, including social media, marketing, and design, while also learning directly from the CEO about the intricacies of running a successful brand. One of the most eye-opening experiences was observing the design process firsthand and seeing how the tailors bring designs to life. This deepened my understanding of the craftsmanship behind fashion creation and the inner workings of the industry.
I thrived in assisting with samples, fabric choices, and hand-sewing garments. I also contributed to shoot days for new collections and played a key role in launching the brand’s new platform for young designers, supporting workshops, social media promotion, and pop-up shops. Additionally, I assisted with organizing and running sample sales, further honing my organizational skills.
Through collaboration, effective communication, and a strong sense of curiosity, I made the most of my internship and am eager to apply and build upon these skills in future opportunities.
A particularly memorable and rewarding experience was helping to plan and execute the Kids Christmas Pop-Up in the Met Quarter. Partnering with local schools, we provided children with the chance to unlock their inner designers, with their creations showcased in our shop. All proceeds went to the local food bank, making it incredibly fulfilling to be part of an initiative that not only encouraged creativity but also gave back to the community. This experience reinforced my passion for design and inspired me to push my creative boundaries.
With the launch of the KD Club and the brand’s transition away from Kirsty Doyle, I had the opportunity to attend podcast recordings featuring leading voices in PR and fashion design. Assisting on set, listening in on the conversations, and creating social media content from these sessions was an eye-opening experience. Hearing industry experts share their stories, insights, and career tips gave me a deeper understanding of the fashion world and broadened my perspective on the many paths within it.
